Enrollment is absolutely free, it’s open to everyone (BSF is non-denominational) and each season runs for 30 weeks. If this is the first time you’re hearing about BSF, this is a program that takes you through a structured, inductive study of different books in the Bible using the four-fold approach of listening to a weekly lecture, studying lesson notes, answering study and reflection questions, and discussing your discoveries with a small group led by a BSF group discussion leader. Studying the Bible through BSF made me want to visit the Holy Land and the other places mentioned in the Bible, and the Lord has just been so faithful to give me enough resources to travel to Israel, Egypt and Jordan in 2014, and join Paul’s Missionary Tour ( Greece and Turkey) in 2017. Those years were also my peak single life years - though I didn’t get into any relationships then, I experienced the Lord in a manner that made me just want to be single for life. It was this restaurant that captured the public imagination, at least in the U.S. A tower inside the Ala Moana mall in Honolulu, Hawaii sprouted in 1961 and the famous “Eye of the Needle” atop the Space Needle in Seattle opened for the 1964 World’s Fair. The 209-metre Florianturm, which opened to the public in 1959, was primarily a communications mast, but shrewd designers included several public features in an effort to spin the concrete column as a tourist attraction, much like Canadian National did with the CN Tower. The first realized revolving restaurant opened a little over 25 years later in Dortmund, Germany. Cars would park in the base and the restaurant would be perched atop a giant elevator column. Had it been built, guests would have enjoyed panoramic views of the exhibition grounds from the spiral-shaped upper levels. That year, industrial designer Norman Bel Geddes proposed a restaurant shaped like a dumbbell turned on its side. The earliest concept for an elevated, moving dining room can be traced to an unbuilt design prepared for the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair. Today, just one remains, and the concept is firmly out of fashion. Out the window, a civilized world of traffic-free highways, supersonic air travel, and missions to the moon drifts gently by.įor a brief time in the late 1970s, Toronto had three revolving restaurants, making it particularly well endowed with futuristic dining options. Imagine sitting at the top of a modern skyscraper, the lights of the city twinkling below, enjoying a rib eye steak or prawn cocktail served in a wine glass. In the background, there’s light piano music and the faint clink of cutlery over hushed conversation. Nothing epitomizes space age urbanism quite like the revolving restaurant. ![]() 9/14/2023 0 Comments Aer insights![]() ![]() The review time also depends upon the quality of a research paper. Identification of the wild progenitor of common garlic is difficult due to the sterility of its many cultivars, which limits the ability to cross test with wild relatives. While I personally think these hairdos are often stunning and quite beautiful, most professionals dealing with hair loss advise against them, especially over long periods of time. Women with hair loss should be given an extensive medical workup, especially for diabetes which can be controlled.īecause braiding and weaves are expensive to do, many women keep these styles for an extended period of time adding to the risk of infection. Many of these women also had Type 2 diabetes and bacterial infections, suggesting that the hair loss may be related to underlying metabolic irregularities. Nearly 60% of the women showed signs of advanced central hair loss with scarring. Men who attach hairpieces to their existing hair can experience this type of permanent hair loss if the hairpiece is attached in the same location over a long period of time.Īccording to a study published in the Archives of Dermatology, "Any style that causes too much tension and traction on the hair.can possibly lead to scarring hair loss." Traction alopecia (baldness) is caused by chronic traction (pulling) on the hair follicle and is seen most commonly in African-American females associated with tight braiding or cornrow hair styles. Over the last five years, I've met hundreds of people in-person and online who have resonated with what I've written and it's changed my life. Making friends can be difficult in big cities but this seemed like a secret weapon. What would my colleagues say? Would my boss tell me I shouldn't be sharing my opinions in public?Įventually, my writing attracted people curious about the same things. It was terrifying to hit that publish button. In 2015 I challenged a friend to post an article publicly on LinkedIn. This book is a culmination of those reflections. During this time I discovered the idea of the "pathless path" which helped me to navigate the uncertainty and weirdness of following a path of self-employment. In 2017 I built up the courage to leave my job and have been trying to experiment with different ways of working and living life. After a health crisis at the age of 27, I started to realize that I didn't have any sort of identity beyond achievement-driven worker. Surprisingly, I start to find some simple but powerful answers from history, philosophy, and my own experience, ones that offer a dramatically different story about our modern relationship to work. Over the next few years, I attempt to answer these questions and to do so, I find myself drawn to living abroad, experimenting with non-work, unleashing my curiosity, and grappling with my insecurities and fears. What happens when you don't orient your life around work?.How do you handle not knowing what the future looks like?.Who was I if I didn't have a clearly legible title or path in life?.I started contemplating hard questions, the ones I had kept safely buried beneath the surface. A few months into the journey, I felt pulled by a deep feeling that I needed to experiment much more with my life. I had quit my job with the idea that I would become a freelance consultant, working a bit less and having a little more flexibility. The surprising answer? There was., but it meant rejecting much of what I thought was true growing up and also what most of the people around me believed.
